Remember when Sailor Moon was so rare and hard to find because nobody had the licensing? Dvd box sets were $500+ on eBay? And we freaked out over the manga coming back? I’m just in awe that I just watched an official Ford Commercial featuring Usagi.
A car commercial. With Luna telling me about the features of this vehicle.
This is truly a wonderful time to be a Sailor Moon fan.
I really love magical girl genre to death. But I hate how people compare a lot of magical girls with Sailor Moon or dark ones with Madoka Magica without realizing a lot of lighthearted magical girls like Sally The Witch, Cutie Honey and Magical Girl Creamy Mami came before it and a lot of dark magical girls like Uta Kata, Utena, Princess Tutu and Kannazuki No Miko (yes it is a magical girl anime if you don’t know) came way before Madoka Magica. I mean I wanted to watch Daybreak Illusion, Magical Girl Raising Project and Yuki Yuna but after seeing the reviews, I nearly got upset that they don’t shine very much like Madoka Magica.
By the way after I graduate I am creating a magical girl anime called Magical Warriors in a company which consists of most genres combined. There are both males and females working together, both Indian amd Japanese magical girls playing a big role, both science and magic meaning that there are both magical creatures and robots, both fantasy and reality, both cute and action packed magical girls and both slice of life and horror moments and this series might contain 200 episodes. Let me see how fans review my anime.
Women stand by Sailor Moon today because it respected them, enriched them, and entertained them when others refused to — others that have not changed much in the 23 years since the manga debuted.
